Das Entwicklungsprogramm der Vereinten Nationen (UNDP) will gemeinsam mit dem Umweltministerium ein neues Projekt zum Management von Wildtieren in Namibia umsetzen. Konkret soll dabei beispielsweise die Anzahl der Mensch-Tier-Konflikte reduziert werden. Zudem sollen die Fähigkeiten Namibias im Kampf gegen Wilderei verbessert werden. Insgesamt werden dafür umgerechnet rund N$ 95 Millionen zur Verfügung gestellt. Laut Umweltminister Pohamba Shifeta komme das Projekt zur rechten Zeit. Es vergehe kein Tag, an dem nicht Mensch-Tier-Konflikte gemeldet würden. Das Projekt soll bis 2027 abgeschlossen werden.
