Ein deutlicher Anstieg der Diamanten-Exporte hat das namibische Handelsdefizit im September 2022 leicht gesenkt. Nach vorläufigen Zahlen der Statistikagentur NSA lag die Diskrepanz zwischen Exporteinnahmen und Importausgaben zuletzt bei N$ 2,4 Milliarden. Das entspricht einem Rückgang von über 40 Prozent im Vergleich zum August. Wichtigste Exportgüter waren nach den Diamanten Fisch und Uran. Die meisten Exporte gingen dabei nach Botswana, Südafrika und Sambia. Umgekehrt wurden in erster Linie Güter aus Südafrika, den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten und den USA eingeführt.
