Südafrika schickt insgesamt rund 1500 Soldaten nach Mosambik. Das geht aus übereinstimmenden Medienberichten hervor. Demnach wurde ein erstes Truppenkontingent für die SADC-Mission bereits letzte Woche in die Krisenregion Cabo Delgado entsendet, weitere Soldaten sollen in Kürze folgen. Das Mandat für den Einsatz gilt vorerst bis zum 15. Oktober. Die Mission soll durch einen südafrikanischen General geleitet werden. Auch Botswana und Angola sind mit Truppen vor Ort, Namibia wiederum beteiligt sich nur finanziell an dem SADC-Einsatz gegen den islamistischen Terror im Norden Mosambiks.
