Der Verkehrsunfallfonds MVA warnt vor einem verstärkten Verkehrsaufkommen zum langen Wochenende. Vor allem auf der B2 in Richtung Küste und auf der B1 in den Norden muss demnach mit deutlich mehr Verkehr als normalerweise gerechnet werden. Dem MVA zufolge kommt es rund um den Unabhängigkeitstag regelmäßig zu tödlichen Unfällen. Verkehrsteilnehmer sind daher zu besonderer Vorsicht auf den Straßen des Landes aufgerufen. Entlang der B1 und B2 sollen zum Wochenende zudem vermehrt Rettungsdienste und Polizei im Einsatz sein.
